Fireworks Displays in Glasgow 2026

Every November the same question pops up in the school WhatsApp group: "Are the Glasgow Green fireworks back?" Sadly not. There's no city-run display in 2026, and Glasgow Green hasn't had a bonfire night since 2019. But that doesn't mean a quiet night in. Rugby clubs, cricket clubs, Round Tables and a couple of councils are putting on cracking family displays across the Southside, East Dunbartonshire and Lanarkshire. Most are on Thursday 5 or Saturday 7 November.

We've rounded up every organised display we could find within easy reach of the city, with times, prices and where to book. Display organisers register with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, so if it's on their list, it's the real deal.

Is there a Glasgow Green fireworks display in 2026?

No. The traditional Glasgow Green bonfire night hasn't run since 2019. The council was exploring a new fireworks event in 2026, but nothing has been announced and it isn't on the fire service's list of organised displays. Strathclyde Park isn't listed for 2026 either.

Setting off fireworks at home? Check the control zones

Parts of Glasgow are Firework Control Zones, where it's against the law to set off fireworks at home or in the street. Before you bring out the rockets, check Glasgow City Council's firework control zone map. In Scotland you can only use fireworks at home from 6pm to 11pm, and until midnight on 5 November.

Tips for bonfire night with kids

  • Book ahead. Club displays like GHA, Clydesdale and Strathaven sell advance tickets, and some don't sell any on the gate.

  • Ear defenders for babies and toddlers. Even a 10-minute display is a lot of bang.

  • Glow sticks and a meeting point. Dark fields plus excited children add up to a lot of "where's Ruby?"

  • Layers, hats and gloves, plus a flask. It's Glasgow in November.

  • Take the train to Halfway (Newton) and Dumbarton (Dalreoch or Dumbarton Central).

  • Sparklers: gloves on, one at a time, and a bucket of water for the finished ones.
